Open Question: Someone help me out here.?

I'm 15 and I hear all the time 'oh, you obviously can't buy diet pills; you're under 18!' Is this true? I've searched for hours trying to find laws that prohibit the sale of diet pills to 'minors' in Vermont, but I have come up empty handed. I would really appreciate some help here...
