I'm planning on buying a house in Vermont soon, and I intend to do a fair amount of target shooting on my property. I want enough land so that I can do this both safely and without disturbing my neighbors with the noise, but not an excessive amount, for budget reasons. The terrain would most likely be dense woods, with rolling hills. Ideally, I would shoot between two hills so the noise doesn't spread out as much to the sides. I was thinking that 400-500 acres would be enough if I really wanted to keep the noise down, but do I need more in this case? Less?
